Marketing your Small business
This is a topic that may pose as many answers as it does questions depending who you ask. Being able to market your business successfully will depend on the information you have and the order in which you put it. Where do I find this information ? Who has it ? Can I make sense of it enough to even use it correctly?
These were all questions I had when first opening up my shop. In the day many years ago marketing your small business was done in a couple of ways. Word-of-mouth was the most cost effective, then there was radio and finally television broadcast. The age of the internet super highway had not even evolved yet.
Living in a world today with all the social media and different communication devices “Old School” ways have become kind of obsolete. A digital image, some written content, a place to upload and finally a click of a mouse. That is all that’s needed right ? Or so I thought until I found myself going nowhere but in circles.
Marketing Trials & Errors
I personally excelled at this topic, throwing around ideas that ultimately led me to hitting another wall. I just wanted to be successful in my niche field and was determined to do so. My passion for engraving is as strong today as it was when I first opened my shop.
The first year is rough for any small business but I was failing at an exponential rate. I knew if things weren’t turned around I was going under and that was unacceptable. I had invested money, time and education in my small business that couldn’t be recouped.
Of course I tried the Social Media thing, with all the different platforms out there. I designed my own website from an online provider, not knowing the first thing about what I was doing. Listing my fabricated items in online retailer shops, to no avail. What was I doing so wrong? This is my dream career so how do I get it to function correctly ?
Perhaps you have had all these questions yourself, now I’m going to tell you what I did about it. After perusing the internet for more hours than I can to think about, it hit me. Why not look into a teacher, mentor, small business marketing coach. Well now things got real interesting, with all kinds of claims and promises from “guru’s” to “Get rich quick schemes”. None of which were for me but then this one gentleman in particular caught my attention.
Small Business Marketing Coach
As I’m watching instructional videos on YouTube I stumble across this fascinating marketing consultant . He introduces himself as David Boozer in the opening of his video with his mug of coffee and big whiteboard. I’m not sure what to make of this gentleman yet but his style & demeanor is very comfortable and laid back.
I don’t get sold on flashy nonsense or hype but good solid information that I can wrap my head around. I’m not college educated or even a High School graduate so my comprehension of information doesn’t always get digested the same as everyone else.
While looking at David’s website I noticed he had a “Free Library” available with an email sign up. This was my first step towards the direction of success. His library was easy to navigate, videos were in a timely fashion and his content unbelievable. I decided to take this to the next level and I thank God I did.
I started corresponding with David and ultimately signed up for his coaching course. Explaining to him that I wasn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer, he might have his work cut out for him. David was nothing short of patient and understanding with me, a true gentleman in his field.
Now mind you I was only interested in selling things my wood shop produced. Regardless of what I fabricated David taught me how to build, brand and manage my shop easier than anyone ever could have.
My Learning Experience
The things I learned from my small business marketing coach David Boozer weren’t as difficult as I thought. David put things into an understandable format personalized for me, my skill set and comprehension level. Again, I’m not personally the sharpest knife in the drawer but it didn’t matter to David.
Working one on one with David gave me a clearer understanding of how to achieve my goals. What I was in for and how to remedy situations as they arose. Never being more than an email or phone call away, this man is someone you can count on.
Here’s what I learned:

Is your mind is made up to make a personal change for the better in your life? Don’t know where to start? Not sure if what you want to do is even Marketable? Been trying like myself but was getting nowhere?
That list goes on and on but I’ll stop there. David has given me so much more than I could have ever expected. I see my achievements on a day to day basis now with more results quicker then I was capable of on my own. Given the tools, knowledge and guidance my online presence is building up momentum in the right direction finally.
